Orit Mohammed is the founder of Dubai-based specialty coffee company, Boon Coffee. We’ve often bumped into her at the local farmer’s market in Bay Avenue, Business Bay over the weekends and Boon’s caffeinated fix gives us the clarity we need to select our produce bright and early on Friday mornings! When we asked her to talk us about the age-old tradition of the Ethiopian coffee ceremony, she graciously invited us to her home. From roasting to sipping, economics to etiquette, we’ve brewed an episode dedicated to this invigorating hospitality tradition practiced by Ethiopians all over the country – and abroad.
Boon Coffee is a UAE-based organic specialty coffee roaster that offers 100% pure, single-origin, Arabica coffee beans sourced directly from Ethiopia. You can sip on a range of coffee beverages at their café in JLT (Shop no. 21, Ground Floor, 1 Lake Plaza, Cluster T – Dubai) and at the farmer’s market at Bay Avenue, every weekend morning during the market season.
